Geordie Henderson is the Founder and Principal of Waterbay Technology.
He is an experienced technology organization leader and executive who has been building software companies, products, and teams for over 25 years. Most recently, Geordie spent 4 years as a General Manager at Amazon Web Services where he led large scale cloud messaging services including Simple Queue Service (SQS), Simple Notification Service (SNS), Amazon MQ, and Kinesis Data Streams (KDS).
Prior to that he was the SVP of Engineering and Operations at Bench Accounting. In the mid-2010s Geordie was an early employee of Hootsuite, where he grew with the company to VP, Engineering as the organization scaled rapidly to 1000+ employees with Engineering teams in four countries.
Earlier in his career, Geordie co-founded Metalogix Software in 2001. Metalogix was a Microsoft ISV that specialized in content migration and SharePoint upgrades. Geordie and his partners achieved triple digit growth for over a decade. In 2008, Metalogix took investment from Bessemer and Insight Venture Partners, and by 2010 had over half of the Fortune 500 as customers. The company was subsequently acquired by Permira in 2014 and ultimately became a part of Quest Software.
Geordie is currently on the board of New Ventures BC and is a member of the UBC Faculty of Applied Science Dean’s Advisory Council. His past governance experience includes six years as a board director at Technical Safety BC and several years of public company board experience at MediaValet.
